1. Curiosity: be aware of what is happening in the world as well as his or her community.Paying attention to what is new and what is going on in my community and the world.
2. Disciplined self-assessment: look critically at your own resources and culture. Ask what we are, and what we have. This is to figure out where resources are.
3. Playful experimentation: create new events, programs, and structures that bring old and new together, but be willing to fail.
4. Entrepreneurship: Think outside the box about possible new resources of money and partners.
5. Creativity and Imagination: Act out your changing identity in ritual, story and picture.
6. Deep Hospitality: intentionally train "outsiders" to become participating members, being willing to accept the gifts these new comers bring.
7. Conflict Management: There is no change without conflict and those who are unwilling to face it will not change. Don't be afraid of the person who says 'I don't like this!'
