P or A: The words of Isaiah call us to enact justice as we proclaim the word of theLord against the oppression of our neighbours. On this day of repentance, graciousGod, we confess our many sins, and ask for courage to live justly. We pray inJesus' name, and respond, "Amen."
A: We are guilty of many transgressions toward you and our neighbours. We havenot loved you with our whole heart. We have treated our neighbours unjustly byharbouring resentments and practicing discrimination. Accept this, our humblesacrifice of repentance. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
A: Living in a nation of great wealth, it is easy to forget the hunger and want of ourbrothers and sisters in poorer places, and even to ignore those neighbours among uswho are in need. Encourage us to share our wealth that we may help level theinequalities of this world. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
A: As you call us to act justly and live lives of service, keep us humble in ouractivities. Remind us that to sound a trumpet before our works is to receive only thefinite gift of human praise. Help us to work quietly, that we might enjoy heavenlyrewards. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

A: In the wilderness, our Lord was tempted by the devil to forsake the truth for a lie. When we are so tempted, give us the strength of Jesus to answer the tempter withbold faith in your truth. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
A: Hearing the story of Israel's entry into a land flowing with milk, honey, life, andabundance, we think with sadness of the many threats to your creation that ourlifestyles have caused.
